Aiken Standard: Young is best for House seat

Tom Young, a 1989 graduate of Aiken High School, is a candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives. As a student and as president of the student body at Aiken High School, Tom repeatedly demonstrated unique talent for leadership. His tenure was marked by skill in organization and in problem solving and most especially in a sincere concern for others. He was an active and constant advocate for each student from the most timid freshman to the most stressed senior.

This regard for others continued at the University of South Carolina. As student body president at Carolina, Tom used his already well-developed leadership skills to unite, motivate and lead a diverse student body made up of local, national, and international students.

His service continued during law school where he was elected chairman of the Honors Board and chairman of the Young Alumni Association. After graduation from law school, Tom chose to return to Aiken where he resides with Heather, his wife, and their two young daughters and to become active in our community and in our church.
Tom has so often proved that he is a man of integrity who is genuinely concerned about the welfare of others. He has also demonstrated the leadership ability and experience necessary to accomplish his goal, his Plan for Palmetto Progress. Details are available at www.youngforhouse.com.

As former high school educators, we had the opportunity to observe hundreds of students both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that Tom’s varied experience would be uniquely valuable in representing the citizens of Aiken. Tom Young is not only the right choice to represent District 81 as our next state representative, but also he is the best choice.
